Land Clearing in West Tennessee

Land clearing removes brush, saplings, and small trees so the ground is ready to build on, grade, fence, or replant. We start with a free walk and give you a written quote before any work begins.

What is land clearing?

Land clearing is preparing a piece of ground for its next use. That usually means removing the brush, saplings, and small trees that are in the way, and leaving the site clean enough that the next step, whether that is a builder, a fence crew, or you, can get started.

Who we clear land for

  • Homeowners and landowners opening up property
  • House sites, barn sites, and building pads
  • Fence lines and access paths
  • Hunting land and recreational property
  • Contractors, landscapers, and fencing companies who need extra equipment capacity. Ask about subcontracting.

How we clear land

Most of our clearing starts with forestry mulching, which grinds growth into mulch on the spot so there are no burn piles and no heavy debris to haul. Where the ground needs to be shaped afterward, we can follow with grading and leveling.

The right approach depends on what the land will be used for. We will explain the options on the walk instead of guessing.

What land clearing does not include

Our focus is brush, saplings, and small trees. Large timber, big stumps, and full tree removal are not part of what we offer right now. If your property needs that, we will say so on the walk so you can plan around it. Stumps that are cut low stay in the ground unless we have agreed otherwise in the quote.

What affects the job

Every property is different. The cost and time depend on how dense the growth is, how big the woody growth is, how much ground we are clearing, how steep or wet it is, and how clean you need the finished ground. A thick stand of privet and cedar takes a lot more machine time than a few scattered saplings, which is why we quote after seeing the land.

Permits and rules

Requirements depend on your county or city, what the land will be used for, and whether the work is near a stream or wetland. Many residential clearing jobs need nothing special, but disturbing a large area for construction can trigger stormwater rules. Bottomland near rivers and creeks may also have extra restrictions. We will flag anything we notice, and you should confirm local requirements with your county or city before work starts.

Land clearing steps

  1. Free on-site walk. We look at access, terrain, and what you want the land to become.
  2. Written quote with a cap. A day-rate quote with a not-to-exceed amount.
  3. We clear it. Growth is cleared and left in a usable condition, and we text you photos when it is done.

Getting ready for the walk

  • Know roughly where your property lines are, or have a survey handy
  • Think about what the land will be used for next
  • Tell us about anything that must be kept: specimen trees, fence, a view
  • Send photos before the walk if you can, and text them to (731) 255-3656
How pricing works. We do not quote per acre. After a free on-site walk you get a written quote built on a day rate, with a not-to-exceed cap, so you know the most you will pay before any work starts. See how our pricing works.

We are based in Jackson and take jobs within about 50 miles, including Madison County and surrounding West Tennessee towns such as Milan, Humboldt, Brownsville, Henderson, Lexington, Bolivar, and Dyersburg. Not sure you are covered? Send your address through the form below and we will confirm.

Land Clearing questions.

What is the difference between land clearing and forestry mulching? +
Land clearing is the goal: ground that is ready to use. Forestry mulching is one way to get there, grinding growth in place. Most of our clearing uses mulching.
Can you clear land for a house? +
We can clear brush, saplings, and small trees for a house site or building pad. Large trees and stump removal may need other contractors. We will tell you what is realistic on the walk.
Do I need to be there during the work? +
Not usually. As long as we have access and know what you want cleared, we can work, and we text you photos when it is done.
Do you haul everything away? +
Forestry mulching leaves a layer of mulch in place instead of debris piles. If you would rather material be hauled off, ask on the walk and we will talk through it.
Do I need a permit to clear my land? +
It depends on your county or city, the size of the disturbance, and whether streams or wetlands are involved. Many residential jobs need nothing special. Confirm local requirements before work starts, and we will flag anything we see.
